Airsports Parapanta Zita’s very first hour with a Paraglider Wing !!

Airsports Parapanta
This is Zita spending some time with my Ozone Rush wing. This is the VERY FIRST TIME EVER in her life with a paraglider and as you will see by the end of the video, she is in total control of the wing even though it is NOT a trainer wing and is designed for a person well over twice her weight ! I can already see a great pilot here
NOTES: The beach faces South and the wind was coming from the South at the very start of the video. It then started to constantly shift S/SE and at the end of the day was mainly an Easterly. Also, the Ozone Rush wing is designed for a person WELL OVER TWICE her weight and is a EN B / LTF 1-2 Advanced wing and IT IS NOT A TRAINER WING – I would STRONGLY advise anyone who wants to try or take up this sport to go to a highly qualified and experienced trainer (Mr.Murray Hay in Scotland) and start with a learner Level 1 wing. Zita is 5′3″ (160cm) and well below the weight level for this wing – the womans got some serious skills people
Kiting (Ground Handling, Dancing with my Wing, Paragliding)

Okay… kiting can be hard work, as this video will attest. I figure that I put in about 50 minutes of kiting for every 1 minute spent in the air. Low winds at first, to no winds, to high winds at end. The really tough part about kiting in the desert in the summer are the switchy, gusty and erratic winds… great practice as long as you don’t get dragged like I did previously.
PPG for Morons: Borrowed Wing

Comedy series. Every friendly pilots nightmare– A powered paraglider pilot borrows a wing and has an accident with it. But don’t worry, he can fix anything….. sort of. Video info: This wing was donated to PPG for Morons. It has several ripped panels on the top, bottom and leading edge, and also a few cut strings. The crew was actually a little shocked that I flew it that way because I didn’t even repair the bad parts with the duct tape. Too bad that the damage didn’t show up on the film better. It just goes to show what a wing can take and still fly.

Custom made powered paraglider wing of a Manta Ray. I believe this wing belongs to Jeff Hamann. Video taken in S. California. Real-life Manta Rays can get as large as this paraglider wing you see.
Dell Schanze Test Flies A 10M Custom Powered Paraglider Wing!

Dell Schanze test flies a 10 square meter custom powered paraglider wing at Beach Blast 2010. Here is his account of the test flight: “Yes truely insane fine sir lol. Very very difficult to kite. The total prototype made with extra phycho just for me went from frontal to stall with about 4 inches of brake travel lol. Seemed flyable though so I took off and immediately headed out over the water at an altitude I didn’t mind falling from. Then a couple hundred yards into the flight I hit some turbulence that caused the wing to lean far past the extra psycho and rattle, shake and accordian like I’ve never seen. With it flapping like a bird and me managing the control with only 4 inches to play with on the brakes I got it to return to a basically open attitude and continued out over deeper water just in case. I cooked around at pretty crazy speeds low over the water until I could come in back where I started and make an uneventful landing. Whew what a flight. People were freaking out lol, they thought for sure I was going to die. I can’t wait to see that wing “flutter” on video, that should be very interesting. So back safely on the ground I was happy to bag it back up for a shelf somewhere. Not sure it is even good for a kite or anything. I think we got a little too carried away on the psychoness of this glider. Whew! What a flight. Sure made for quite the show I’m sure though. Dell”
